Ancestrally inherited music knowledge, started rigorous learning Veena under the Heritage of Mysore Veena Sheshanna School Guru – Shishya Parampara at a very tender age of four from great gurus - relative Vainika Praveena Veena Venkatagiriyappa and maternal uncle Vainika Vidwan Cheluvarayaswami followed by sincere regular practice.
Started teaching from the age of 19 years, initially to his sisters Smt. Parvathi, Smt. Susheela, Smt. Ramamani, continued with daughters Smt. Vidya Ranganath, Smt. Vani Sriram and presently to granddaughter Chi. Varshini. Till date Master taught to more than 1000 students and still continuing the same profession as a hobby. Some students are learning since three generations of the same family. Student Mr. N. Karthik created a record in playing Veena continuously for 24hrs and entered in Guinness Book of World Records.
Our Guru Vainika Vidwan Sri M. V. Krishna Murthy a renowned Veena Master taught Veena to more than 1000 students for more than five decades and is still continuing to date. His expertise in conserving Mysuru Veena Sheshanna School traditional methods of teaching is being appreciated and encouraged by all the students. Our Master’s method of teaching is very unique and always in favour of students and their learning capability. Students enjoy the knowledge of entire subject: complete script of the composer, sanctity, in-depth information, gist of the composition and easy notation. At times our Master is so liberal to teach the student who is blessed with genetically inherited classical music knowledge even without expecting any Gurudakshine. Our Master’s students are in different countries and continuing the tradition of teaching Classical music. Carnatic music and Veena are our Master’s life keeping him active and healthy in spite of age related ailments. Saint Sri Thyagarajaswami is his Aradhya Daiva and preserves his collection of Sri Thyagaraja Kirthans in the dairies. We thought of preserving our Master’s collection in the printed books and make available online to all categories of Music aspirants. We trust that our Master’s in-depth knowledge of Carnatic Music and especially about Sri Thyagaraja Kirthans will be very useful for learners, artists and Philosophers.
